Big Isn’t Best in Private Equity

The Wall Street Journal features a top ten list of buyout firms in its article on why it is better to search outside the industry’s brand names when looking to invest. The newspaper ranks the firms by what’s called the HEC-Gottschalg method, which takes the average annual performance rates of each firm and then calculates how much the firm would have returned from 1996 to 2005.
